5 cities you must visit in the UK

There are so many amazing cities in this country of ours. I forget about that since I’m always trying to explore further than the island I live on. And it’s not all about London either – nope! London isn’t on this list because there’s so much more to the UK than our capital city, as exciting as it may seem. Plus, it’s a little predictable don’t you think? Here are 5 cities you must visit in the UK.

1 / Leeds

Of course I’m going to stick my home city up at the top of this list. We chose to move to Leeds after all! It truly is a lovely city to visit though – from the beautiful Corn Exchange and its quirky independent shops, to walking through picture perfect Roundhay Park whatever the weather. There’s loads of brilliant places to eat too – Just Grand! Vintage Tearoom, Pieminister, Red’s True BBQ…and so much more.

2 / Edinburgh

Edinburgh is truly a beautiful city. There’s so much history there and so much going on too. You can spend a day soaking up the culture with a walk around Edinburgh Castle, having fun with perspective at Camera Obscura, or taking in the views from Arthur’s Seat. Then when you want to get your drink on you can head over to the Scotch Whiskey Experience and take your pick of whiskeys.

3 / Liverpool

Liverpool is another city with so much history. Snap your photo outside the infamous Cavern Club and with Eleanor Rigby on Stanley Street, browse the galleries at the Tate at Albert Dock, and do a bit of shopping at Liverpool One. Take a ferry trip across the Mersey for beautiful views of the city’s skyline too.

4 / Bath

I nipped to Bath for a long weekend after I got married and absolutely loved my visit! In fact, now I don’t live so close to it I’m gutted it’s going to take longer to get there. For an amazing trip to Bath, pre-book afternoon tea at the Roman Baths Pump Room restaurant and take your chances in the queue for Thermae Spa. If you get there before 9.30am you’ll be well on your way to relaxing in that famous rooftop pool. Take pictures of the beautiful glass stained windows in Bath Abbey and walk up to Royal Crescent for beautiful views over the city (after a trip to the Roman Baths of course…)

5 / Norwich

Ahhh Norwich, home of Alan Partridge and Colman’s mustard – what an exciting mixture! Visit the city’s only independent department store, Jarrolds, check out the knick knack stalls at the market, get spooky on a night time ghost walk, and take pics of the beautiful architecture of the Royal Arcade (pictured).

Liverpool is so underrated, I absolutely love it! It helps that we visit friends who live there and know some cool places to go, but the waterfront area and museums are great. I’d add in York! It’s so english it hurts.

Ahhh yes York is so beautiful. We spent a day there when we first arrive up north but I so want to go back and see more.
