Suite of the week: Junior Suite at The Library Hotel, New York

Listen up bookworms, this week’s suite of the week is for you. New York is one of my favourite places in the world and has no shortage of gorgeous hotels to choose from. However, the Library Hotel on Madison Avenue is my top choice right now and their Junior Suite features as my suite of the week.

Suite of the week décor

The Junior Suites just ooze classic luxury. All of the furniture features deep, dark woods and leathers, and the walls make the rooms look light and airy. Plus, there are books everywhere. Who doesn’t love that? You’ll find me snuggling up to the pillow which reads ‘Book Lovers Never Go To Bed Alone’, with my nose in one of the hardbacks from the cabinet. There are even books resting on top of the mini bar should you fancy a quick browse while making a martini. What I’d like to know is…is there any reading material in the bathroom?

The best bit about these rooms is that the books inside each room correspond to the Dewey Decimal category and the floor the room stands. How’s that for loving books so much? There are over 6,000 books in the hotel and each are organised over 10 guestroom floors in the DD system. So, the sixth floor is ‘Technology’ with room number 001 featuring books about Advertising and room 005 featuring books about Computers. Have a look at the ‘room menu’ to see how it works.

The Library Hotel wants you to put down the smartphones and pick up some quality reading material. So listen to them and do it. There are books everywhere in his hotel, each far more interesting than checking your social media accounts! I can’t think of anything more luxurious than an abundance of books.

Suite of the week amenities

This hotel is all kinds of uh-mazing. The suites include a mini bar, writing desk (yay!), cable TV, complimentary access to a DVD library, and robes and slippers (it’s the little things, people). Plus, every guest gets access to the Reading Room, Writer’s Den and Poetry Garden. The Writer’s Den is on the rooftop and comes with amazing views of Manhattan. Then at night, it turns into a glitzy bar with literary-inspired cocktails.

Dear God, I think I want to live in this hotel.

Suite of the week prices

A night in a Junior Suite at the Library Hotel will cost you approx. $439 pre-tax (that’s around £275 at the time of posting), so it’s probably a special occasion booking! Even if it’s just one night, I reckon the Library Hotel is well worth staying in just to check out how cosy that Writer’s Den is and see how many books can be read in 24 hours. They do offer a special ‘Book Lover’s’ rate for online bookings only if you’re still keen, too…
