2015 travel plans – oh, the places you’ll go!

“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
– Dr Seuss”

2014 was a pretty exciting (and stressful!) year for us. We got married in April, started the process of buying a house and had two honeymoons! There was one minimoon in Berlin the week after we tied the knot, and then a 3 week multi-destination honeymoon to Sri Lanka and the Maldives in September. We’ve had fewer breaks this year because of all the wedding planning and saving, but both honeymoons were awesome. Buying our first house soon will probably mean we won’t have a lot of spare cash to travel in 2015 as well as we have in the past (I’m lookin’ at you 2012), but thanks to some really exciting plans in that area we could have the best year yet! So what are our 2015 travel plans?

Going: Milan, Italy

2015 travel plans | This City Life

I’m so excited about this trip because I’ll be visiting a gorgeous friend in her new home in Milan for a weekend. She left England a few months ago and I’ve missed her loads! Her instagram feed is full of lovely Italian delights, so I can’t wait to get out there and have her show us around the city. I hope we have time for art galleries, real Italian pizza and plenty of shopping.

Planning: Iceland

2015 travel plans | This City Life

This beautiful country has been on my wishlist for so long. Every year I look at Northern Lights deals and tell myself that this year is the year! I’d love to go there for a week, see the Northern Lights, spend a day at Blue Lagoon, stay in an ice hotel, and see some serious nature.

Dreaming about: Nashville and Memphis

2015 travel plans | This City Life

I’ve never been to the Deep South but every time I hear someone talk about it or read posts about cross-US trips, I get the bug. I want to tour Music Row, see a songwriter show, eat all the food at a Memphis BBQ, and watch a Gibson guitar being made. Ahhh, show me the next plane leaving for Tenessee.

Where are you planning to go in 2015? If you’ve been to any of the places in this post, leave me some tips in the comments!

It’s on my list for Milan, but I’m a wimp when it comes to heights! Is it pretty steep up there or are there places to sit far back from the edges?

Iceland has been on my list for quite some time too. Maybe not this year, but someday soon!

I have been dreaming about road tripping around the South. I’ve done the east and west coasts of the states, but I feel like I’m missing out on such a huge part of culture and BBQ!

I love the idea for this post… going, planning, dreaming. I’m dreaming of Iceland and Nashville too. Cheers to 2015 :)

Milan is gorgeous, the Duomo is just incredible and the happy hour down on the canals is a must! If you have enough time, jump on the train and visit Como and do a little boat tour on the Lake; the houses on the lakes are so stunning and colourful
    Happy New Year xx

Hi Charley! I am actually from Tennessee, and I am just so surprised and happy to see that someone actually has it on their to visit list! Nashville is such a cool place, and there are so many local restaurants. Also, if you’re into fancy flavored coffee then go to Frothy Monkey. It is kind of expensive but so worth it, I promise. For the best barbecue in Memphis, head out to the Commissary. It is about thirty minutes away from downtown, but it is so good and all the locals eat there (I went there a lot growing up!).

I love Nashville! It’s my favourite place in the US by far. Make sure you go to the Ryman and try and see if there’s any space at the Bluebird cafe to grab a drink and listen to some live music!
