I’m Charley, a writer in Leeds, and this is my blog. Born in a rural town in Lincolnshire, where dinner meant lunch and parades of flowers were normal, nothing seemed more exciting than the bright lights of the city. So, I moved to one. And then hopped up north to another.
It took me until I was 19 to get on a plane. But once it happened, it was hard to stop! I’m a lover of city breaks, where it’s busy and exciting, and at breakneck speed. While everyone else stomps around in a hurry, I’m taking in all the smells, scenes and snippets of conversation. There’s nothing like waking up with the sounds of the city outside, and catching a brief glimpse of the moment where it drops to sleep.
But then when it comes to life itself I’m learning ‘slow living’, the concept of approaching everything in life a little slower than what we’re told to. I’m not here for the hustle, and I’m not here to cut corners. I’m learning how to place meaning and emphasis on what I do, being more conscious about my choices, and celebrating IRL connections with the people around me.
So go ahead, explore This City Life and let me know what you think. Dive straight in.
